After Jesus rose from the dead and the Holy Spirit was poured out on everyone, the church experienced triumph after triumph. The apostolic church appeared so ideal that many today wish we could be just like them because they think today’s church is too messed up for God to work through. But, let’s examine the early apostolic church and see if there was any imperfection in it and if or not God will continue to work through a church that is imperfect by mans’ standards.

So far so good; Jesus had risen from the dead. The promise of the Holy Spirit had been fulfilled. Preaching was getting great results and lots of people were getting saved. Miracles, signs, and wonders were manifesting. They had lots of favor. What could go wrong? A lot. In chapter 4 of Acts we read of the first major resistance to the Gospel of Jesus Christ after Pentecost and it comes from a surprising source. But the apostles have a surprising solution to keep themselves going. The rest is history.

Many Christians don’t feel they have much to offer the world in need. They have limited means and limited self-confidence. They want to leave the sharing of the gospel to those who they perceive to have greater skill and abilities than themselves. But the secret of success is not confidence in oneself, but confidence in the power of the name of Jesus Christ. When we are confident of this one thing, we change and things change.

Often we focus on the outpouring of the Holy Spirit when we read Acts chapter 2. But the hidden stimulus of this historically significant event is found in the believer’s hearts. They found the secret of community. They set their differences aside, focused on their common passion in Jesus Christ and the fulfillment of His promises, and experienced a surprising yet expected outcome – the invasion of Holy Spirit miraculous, community-transforming power. When we as a church, as a movement, as a worldwide family, and as a body of Christ, focus on our shared passions instead of our differences, the outcome will be exceedingly, abundantly beyond what we can ask or imagine.
Acts 1: Preparing for the God-life - Mike Stubbs

In the Book of John, we learned about what our Lord Jesus Christ said and did. We are inspired by His ministry and miracles, and most of all, by His love for humanity. Jesus did not plan for his ministry to end with His ascension, but to be increased and multiplied through His followers. While the Book of John told about what Jesus Christ said and did, the Book of Acts tells about what His followers said and did. It is important for us because, like us, they were more called than qualified but confident of God’s grace and empowerment through the Holy Spirit to live out His plan for them.

When we identify with this covenant it carries great weight in the spiritual realm which influences and changes the natural realm around us. Listen online as Christopher Alam teaches in the evening service at Victory Fellowhip.

Each of us were sovereignly chosen by the will of God - not the will of man or personal merit. Our call is to embrace the revelation of Jesus Christ and to proclaim it. The gospel is the revelation of Jesus Christ. The revelation of Jesus Christ establishes our identity with authority. Those who know this are not religious traditionalists clinging to the past but chosen vessels with reclaimed voices proclaiming what is yet to come.
Hebrews 7: Does Jesus Christ Still Receive the Tithe?

Abraham took a great risk by going to battle but it paid off with an extremely large amount of spoil. In essence, he gambled everything and came out the winner. But instead of reveling in his spoil, he went directly to the High Priest and gave a tenth of everything. But this is where it gets strange – it says he got more blessed in return. This priest, Melchizedek, is called “one who has no beginning and no end” like Jesus Christ who is the Alpha and the Omega. Jesus Christ is a Priest after the Order of Melchizedek, receiving tithes yesterday, today, and forever.
